Play in the Largest Amateur Golf Event in Chicagoland Ever!
Over 5,000 golfers! Twenty-five qualifying sites! Ten days in length! This summers first annual Chicago Short Game Challenge will undoubtedly be the largest amateur golf event ever staged in Chicagoland. And you are invited!
To be conducted June 2130, the Short Game Challenge will test the short game acumen of golfers of all skill levels. Separate divisions for golfers of all demographics have been established including Championship, Junior (Age 17 and under), Senior (Age 50 and over) and Womens Stroke Play Competitions.
Sixty-three percent of the game is from 100 yards and closer; yet, no event has solely been based on this most important aspect of the game, especially on such a broad regional basis, stated Roger M. Yaffe, President of RMY Management Group, L.L.C., the events creator and management company.
Qualifying will take place at 25 Par Three and Executive Courses from June 2126. For an entry fee of only $20 for the Championship Division ($15 for Junior, Senior and Women) plus the cost of greens fees, golfers can attempt to qualify at any time, at any participating facility, on any of the six days. In fact, participants may attempt to qualify as often as they wish and multiple times per day. Additional qualifying rounds will only cost $10 each.
Qualifiers from throughout Chicago-land will move on the Golf Center Des Plaines to participate in the Finals which will be televised on Fox Sports Net! Three hundred Junior, Senior Women Division competitors will play at the Golf Center on Saturday, June 29. Three hundred Championship Division competitors will play in the Finals on Sunday, June 30. Over $20,000 in prizes will be given out and each individual attempting to qualify will receive a golf coupon book unavailable elsewhere with a $250 value!
This event will highlight the fact that our community has the finest collection of short course golf facilities in the nation. No other metropolitan area could host an event of this caliber with the quantity and quality of par three and executive facilities that Chicagoland can boast, Yaffe exclaimed.
The Short Game Challenge will include the $1,000,000 Chicago Hole-in-One Shoot-Out. Any player attempting to qualify who makes an ace on ANY hole in their qualifying round will move on to the $1,000,000 Finals to be held at the Golf Center Des Plaines on Friday evening, June 28. Additionally, each participating golf course will conduct a closest-to-the-pin contest on a designated hole and the daily winner will receive an automatic birth in $1,000,000 hole-in-one finals.
A Short Game Challenge web site has been launched at www.rmygroup.com. The site includes detailed event rules, a participating facility map and Short Game Challenge logo merchandise. Qualifiers who register online will receive a 10% discount off the entry fee.
To my knowledge, there has never been a grassroots amateur golf event in Chicagoland of the size and scope of the Short Game Challenge, said Yaffe. This event caters to golfers of all skill levels and at such a reasonable entry fee, should attract thousands of players from throughout the area.
